Decatur Airport Car Service & Chauffeured Transportation
One building, one level, and a car already standing at the only door there is.
Decatur runs the plainest passenger operation on this roster: one ground level terminal, one door, and a lot outside it that costs nothing. Executive Transportation collects you at the house or the office, carries the bags, and sets them down at that door, whether you are on the O’Hare flight or meeting a private aircraft on the general aviation ramp.

Know the airport
What to know about Decatur Airport
Decatur Airport, code DEC, sits on South Airport Road east of the city and runs the plainest passenger operation in the region. One ground level terminal building of about 24,000 square feet holds the airline counter, the rental car counters, seating and baggage claim. Private and charter aircraft work the general aviation side of the same field.
One building, one level, one door
The Decatur Park District describes the terminal as a 24,000 square foot ground level facility with airline and car rental counters, seating for passengers and guests, baggage claim and the administrative offices, all under one roof. There is no upper roadway and no lower roadway, so the car that drops you for a morning departure stops in the same place the car that collects you at night does. Nothing about this airport needs a map.
The scheduled board is short, and that is the whole point
The airport’s own Fly Decatur page lists a single scheduled destination, Chicago O’Hare, and sends travelers to United.com for the times. If your itinerary connects at O’Hare, you can board here and skip the drive into Chicago entirely. If it does not, we drive you to the hub that carries your flight instead, whether that is O’Hare or St. Louis Lambert.
Parking is free, and the terminal lot takes drop-offs
Decatur states plainly that parking is free of charge. The lot adjacent to the terminal building permits pick-up and drop-off along with overnight and short-term parking, and longer trips are asked to park away from the building in the airport lot. A chauffeur uses that same adjacent area, which is why your driver can walk your bags to the counter rather than idling somewhere out of sight.
The field stays open longer than the tower does
Decatur publishes 24-hour operations, Part 139 certification with round the clock fire protection, both 100LL and Jet A on the field, and a control tower staffed from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The longest runway is 8,500 feet. For a charter landing at midnight that combination matters more than any terminal detail: the airport is open, and so is our phone.
Terminal, parking, flight and field details checked on the airport’s own pages at decatur-parks.org/decatur-airport on September 17, 2026. Regional schedules change more often than anything else here, so confirm the flight with the airline before you travel.

Departures and arrivals at Decatur
A single door does both jobs here, so the only real variable is what time we leave your door.
Departures
Your door to the Decatur terminal
- Give a coordinator the flightThe carrier, the flight number and the time it lifts off. On a field with one scheduled route that is usually a single line of text, and it is enough to hold the vehicle.
- We work the pickup time backwardStart from what the airline asks of you at the counter, add the run, then add a cushion for weather and the interstate. Decatur is a short drive, so the cushion is small and the morning starts later than a Chicago departure would allow.
- The luggage is handled at homeThe chauffeur is out of the car before you reach the trunk, and the bags are loaded while you are still locking the front door.
- Dropped at the terminal doorPick-up and drop-off are permitted in the lot adjacent to the terminal building, so the car stops a few steps from the airline counter. One level, one checkpoint, and no train to ride.
Arrivals
Baggage claim back to your door
- Hand us the inbound flight numberGive dispatch the inbound flight number and the scheduled arrival, and call if either changes. Somebody answers the phone at three in the morning as readily as at three in the afternoon.
- Collect the bagsBaggage claim sits in the same building as the counter you checked in at, a few strides from the doors. On a good night the walk from the aircraft to the carousel is shorter than the walk between two gates at a hub.
- Your chauffeur is at the carouselDecatur publishes no separate livery lane, and you never need one. Your chauffeur meets you inside at baggage claim, takes the luggage, and walks you out to the vehicle in the adjacent terminal lot. You will not be hunting a lane number in the dark.
- Straight home, or straight to the officeLate arrivals are the reason most riders stop parking here. The bags go in the trunk, the heater is already on, and the hour on the interstate belongs to somebody else.
Private jets and charter
Private jet and charter flights at Decatur Airport
Decatur carries more general aviation than scheduled airline traffic, and the field is built for it: 8,500 feet of runway, Jet A on site and 24-hour operations. Executive Transportation drives that side of the airport on the same terms as the terminal, with a uniformed chauffeur and one quote for the vehicle.
- 01
The car meets the aircraft, not the counter
Charter and corporate flights come and go through the fixed base operator, well away from the airline door. Your chauffeur waits at the FBO entrance, so nobody walks through a passenger terminal they had no reason to enter.
- 02
Bags handled at the aircraft where the ramp allows
When the operator clears it, luggage moves between the hold and the trunk beside the airplane. When it does not, the transfer happens at the FBO door and the car is already parked there waiting.
- 03
Crew hotel and passenger office on one booking
A flight crew needs a bed and the passengers need a boardroom, usually within ten minutes of each other. We take both on a single reservation rather than sending the crew a second car an hour later.
- 04
Room for the whole delegation
Eight arriving executives and their cases fit one Sprinter with a stand-up aisle. A larger group moves to a coach. Either way the quote covers the vehicle, not a seat count.
Where general aviation runs at Decatur
- Gaitros Aviation, LLC790 South Airport Rd, Decatur, Illinois 62521The fixed base operator on the Decatur field, listed on the airport’s own tenant page for aircraft servicing and maintenance. Gaitros publishes staffed hours from 5 a.m. on weekdays and a call-out number outside them, which is what a late charter needs.
Tell dispatch the tail number, the operator and the landing time at booking, and call again if the slot moves. The airport lists a United States Customs and Border Protection contact on the field, so tell us if you are arriving from abroad. We prefer 72 hours’ notice, but call anytime. Short-notice trips depend on availability.

Why be driven
Four reasons to be driven to Decatur
An airport run sounds like an easy one to make yourself, right up to the point where you are making it twice in a day with a suitcase and an early alarm.
The price is per vehicle, not per rider
The vehicle and chauffeur are quoted by the hour, minimum stated up front, and a coordinator builds the hours around what Route 48 is doing that day. Four colleagues on the same flight share one figure instead of buying four seats.
The car goes to the door, not the lot
Free parking still means a walk in from a lot with a bag, and a walk back out to a cold car at eleven at night. A chauffeur removes both ends of that.
The hour before a flight stays yours
Fifty minutes is exactly enough to read the deck, return the call you were dreading, or sleep. None of that happens while you are the one driving.
Chauffeurs who know this field

Park or be driven
Park at Decatur, or be driven to it
Decatur is one of the few airports where parking is not the argument, because it costs nothing. What it still costs you is the driving, at both ends of the trip.
- Cost to leave a car$0Decatur states parking is free of charge, with close-in spaces at the terminal and a separate lot for longer trips.
- The lot at the doorDrop-offPick-up, drop-off, overnight and short-term parking are all permitted in the area adjacent to the terminal building.
- What free parking never coversBoth legsA free space does not drive you home. The same road, in the dark, after a travel day, is still on the person who parked.
Parking costs nothing at three of the four Central Illinois regional airports, which is why the choice between them comes down to where the flights actually go. Read the comparison.

Popular transfers between Decatur and other airports
Fares and schedules rarely land on the same field. When the outbound leaves Decatur and the return lands somewhere else, Executive Transportation drives the gap in one vehicle.
Each card is the drive between Decatur and the airport named, in either direction. Send both flight numbers and both scheduled times at booking. If either one moves, dispatch needs a call.

Decatur questions
What people ask before booking a Decatur airport car
The answers below use the Decatur Park District’s own published pages for the airport, checked in September 2026, and the calibrated drive times we schedule from.
How long is the drive from Springfield to Decatur Airport?
Executive Transportation schedules the Springfield run to Decatur Airport at about 44 miles and roughly 50 minutes on clear roads, which makes it the shortest airport transfer we make. Treat that as a floor rather than a promise, because weather and harvest traffic both add to it. We build your pickup time backward from the departure on your ticket.
Call (217) 523-5466 or request a quote.
Where does the chauffeur meet you at Decatur Airport?
Executive Transportation meets arriving passengers inside at baggage claim. Decatur runs a single ground level building and publishes no separate limousine lane, so the chauffeur takes your luggage at the carousel and walks you out to the vehicle in the parking area adjacent to the terminal.
See how airport transportation works.
Does Decatur Airport charge for parking?
Decatur Airport states that parking is free of charge, with close-in spaces at the terminal and a separate lot for longer trips. Pick-up, drop-off, overnight and short-term parking are all permitted in the area next to the building. Free parking still leaves you driving both directions on either side of the flight.
Request a Quote and let your own car stay in the driveway.
Where can you fly nonstop from Decatur?
The airport’s own Fly Decatur page lists one scheduled destination, Chicago O’Hare, and sends travelers to United.com to book it. Routes at small fields change, so confirm with the airline. If your itinerary does not connect through O’Hare, Executive Transportation will drive you to the hub that carries it.
Compare the region on our regional airport guide.
What does a car service to Decatur Airport cost?
Executive Transportation quotes a Decatur Airport run by the hour on the vehicle and its chauffeur, and the written quote names the minimum hours before you book. The figure moves with the hours the run takes from your address, the vehicle class and whether you need the return leg too. One quote covers the whole vehicle, so six colleagues share it rather than buying six tickets.
Request a Quote with your dates.
Do you pick up from private jets and charter flights at Decatur?
Executive Transportation drives the general aviation side of Decatur Airport as well as the airline terminal. We meet private, charter and corporate aircraft at the FBO door rather than the airline terminal, load beside the airplane where the ramp allows it, and carry crew and passengers on one booking. Fourteen Sprinter seats take an arriving board and its cases at once.
Send the tail number when you book the chauffeur.
Is Decatur Airport open for a late night arrival?
Decatur publishes 24-hour field operations with Part 139 certification and round the clock fire protection, although the control tower is staffed only from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Executive Transportation answers dispatch at any hour, so a charter landing after the tower closes still finds a car at the FBO door.
Call (217) 523-5466 to arrange a late arrival.
Can one booking cover a flight out of Decatur and a return into another airport?
Yes. Executive Transportation handles split itineraries, and they are common when the fare home is better into Bloomington-Normal, Champaign or St. Louis. Book both legs together so dispatch holds both dates, and give us the flight number and scheduled arrival for the leg coming back.
