Grand Rapids (GRR) Car Service & Chauffeured Transportation

Numbered doors, a boulevard full of shelters, and a chauffeur who knows which one is yours.

Gerald R. Ford International sorts its ground transportation by door and by shelter, which is tidy until you are the one standing on the boulevard with luggage. Executive Transportation sends a uniformed chauffeur to collect you, takes the bags, and sets them down at the terminal entrance your airline uses.

Know the airport

What to know about Gerald R. Ford International

Gerald R. Ford International Airport, code GRR, is west Michigan’s airport and works out of a single terminal with two concourses, A and B. Everything on the ground side is described by door number and by shelter, and that is the part worth reading before you land. Private jet and charter traffic uses the general aviation side of the field, where the airport lists two fixed base operators.

Two concourses, one terminal, numbered doors

Concourse A and Concourse B carry the gates, and the airport’s own terminal map is the fastest way to see which airline sits where. On the ground floor the numbering does the work: doors 4, 5 and 7 are all named in the airport’s ground transportation instructions, which tells you how precise the ground side is here.

Taxis and rideshare have their own shelters

Grand Rapids sends taxi passengers out through door 5 or door 7 to the climate controlled Parking Shuttle Shelter on the boulevard, and rideshare passengers out through door 4, across from the Delta ticket counter, to the Rideshare Shelter. Those shelters are the designated points for those modes, which is exactly why a chauffeured car does not use them.

Why a chauffeured car uses neither shelter

The airport points people looking for a limousine at a list of operators rather than at a lane, so it publishes no livery-specific pickup point. So your chauffeur meets you inside at baggage claim, takes the luggage off the carousel, and walks you out to the vehicle in the designated commercial vehicle area on the boulevard.

An airport that grew fast

The airport’s own history notes that in 2018 it passed the three million passenger mark for the first time, serving 3,265,242 that year. It still feels like a regional airport to walk through, which is the useful part: the distance between your seat in the terminal and the seat in the car is measured in doors, not in trains.

Door numbers, shelters, parking and general aviation details checked on the airport’s own site, grr.org, on September 17, 2026. Grand Rapids revises these pages, so confirm anything time sensitive before you travel.

Departures

Your door to the Grand Rapids terminal

  1. Start with the airline and the flight numberThe carrier, the flight number, the departure time, the headcount and how many bags are checked. That is everything a coordinator needs to hold the right vehicle.
  2. The departure time sets the pickupWe work backward: what your airline asks of you, then the run, then a cushion for the stretch where traffic actually builds. You are given a time, not a window to interpret.
  3. Luggage moves at both endsThe chauffeur loads at your door and unloads at the terminal entrance. Nobody drags a case across a lot in a Michigan February.
  4. Dropped at the door nearest your concourseConcourse A and Concourse B share one building and one set of entrances. Tell us the airline and the chauffeur picks the door that puts you closest to the counter.

Arrivals

The boulevard back to your door

  1. Give us the flight numberFlight number and scheduled arrival when you book, and a call if either changes. Dispatch is answered around the clock, including for the late flights in from the hubs.
  2. Collect your bagsBaggage claim sits below the concourses, with doors 4, 5 and 7 all within sight of the carousels.
  3. Met at baggage claim, then out to the boulevardTaxis use the Parking Shuttle Shelter and rideshare uses the Rideshare Shelter, so a chauffeured vehicle uses neither. Your chauffeur is waiting at the carousel with your name, takes the bags, and walks you out to the car in the commercial vehicle area.
  4. Late and weather-delayed arrivalsLake-effect snow rearranges this airport more often than most, and the car is held against the flight you gave us. If the schedule slips by hours rather than minutes, one call to dispatch moves the whole booking.

Lake weather moves flights, so call dispatch. The vehicle is set from the flight number and scheduled time given at booking, so a phone call is what changes it. Dispatch takes calls around the clock at (217) 523-5466.

Private jets and charter

Private jet and charter flights at Grand Rapids

West Michigan runs a lot of corporate aviation, and Gerald R. Ford International lists two fixed base operators of its own. Executive Transportation drives that side of the field exactly as it drives the terminal: a uniformed chauffeur, a held vehicle, and a car at the door when the aircraft shuts down.

  • 01

    Pickup at the FBO door

Private and charter arrivals are handled through the operator, not the passenger terminal, so the boulevard shelters and door numbers are somebody else’s problem. Your chauffeur waits at the FBO entrance you are actually using.

  • 02

Two operators, so tell us which

The airport lists Avflight and Signature Aviation on separate roads on the general aviation side. Naming yours at booking is the difference between a car at your door and a car at the other one.

  • 03

    Luggage loaded plane-side

Where the operator and the ramp allow it, cases go from the aircraft into the vehicle without touching a luggage cart. Where they do not, the handover happens at the FBO door.

  • 04

    Crew and passengers together

Flight crews going to a hotel and passengers going to a meeting travel on one booking, in one vehicle or two. A Sprinter takes a full delegation and its hard cases in a single run.

  • Signature Aviation4514 Betty Ford Drive, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49512The airport describes Signature as a full service operator that also handles fuel for the commercial airlines at the field. Tell us which of the two your operator uses and the car waits at that door.

Three things go on the booking: the tail number, which of the two operators you are using, and the time you expect to be on the ground. A call to dispatch changes any of them, at any hour. We prefer 72 hours’ notice, but call anytime. Short-notice trips depend on availability.

Why be driven

Four reasons to be driven to Grand Rapids

This is a long run and an easy airport, which is the combination a chauffeur is built for. The value is in what happens before you ever see the terminal.

The whole vehicle on one figure

Quoted by the hour for the vehicle and chauffeur, with the minimum stated up front, so construction season and lake weather are planned into the hours. A team of five shares one figure, not five seats.

No lot, no shuttle, no ticket

Nobody parks in the Economy Lot for a week or hunts for a row number on the way back. The chauffeur loads at your door and stops at the terminal entrance.

Rear-seat time is working time

A long drive north is billable for most of our riders. Take the calls, prepare the meeting, or sleep through the stretch you would otherwise be gripping a steering wheel for.

Uniformed chauffeurs since 2004

Airport work has been the core of Executive Transportation since 2004. Chauffeurs arrive early, in uniform, and know where a commercial vehicle belongs on an airport boulevard.

The fleet

Fleet for this run

Grand Rapids transfers are quoted by the hour for the whole vehicle, which makes the headcount and the luggage the only real questions. A coordinator will match both in one call.

A uniformed chauffeur is part of every one of these. For a party of 8 to 10 that wants to arrive together and be seen doing it, there is the stretch limousine.

Cities we connect to GRR

Where our Grand Rapids runs start

Executive Transportation drives to Gerald R. Ford International from across Central Illinois, in both directions, on one quote for the whole vehicle. These are the origins the Grand Rapids work comes from, and each one has a page of its own.

The figures below are clear-road drives to the terminal, and this run crosses into Eastern time. Give dispatch the flight and the time zone takes care of itself: we build the pickup backward from your departure.

Wherever the car sets off from, the price is for the vehicle rather than the seat.

Park or be driven

Park at Grand Rapids, or be driven to it

Leaving a car at the airport for a week is the comparison most travelers make in their heads. Here is what the airport charges, and what the drive costs before the barrier even lifts.

  • Cheapest official lot$14Per day in the Economy Lot, with the Long-Term North Lot at $17.
  • Closest garage$24The flat figure the Long-Term Garage charges after the first 24 hours; short-term parking runs $2 an hour with no daily maximum.
  • The drive itself$436.24A Bloomington-Normal round trip of 574 miles at the IRS business rate of 76 cents a mile, before any parking at all.

Five days in the Economy Lot on top of that mileage is about $506, and it still costs you the two days of driving. See how a car service is priced when you put both numbers side by side.

Parking rates from grr.org, checked September 17, 2026. The Bloomington-Normal round trip uses the irs.gov business figure of 76 cents a mile, the rate for July through December 2026. Each Grand Rapids transfer is quoted by the hour with a minimum stated up front, so let a coordinator put a figure on yours.

Airport to airport

Popular transfers between Grand Rapids and other airports

Connections into west Michigan are thin enough that plenty of trips arrive at one field and leave from another. Executive Transportation drives that gap in one vehicle, bags untouched.

Each card is the drive between Gerald R. Ford International and the airport named, in either direction. Both flight numbers and both scheduled times go on the reservation at the start.

The gap between the two fields sits on one reservation and one figure.

What riders say

What riders said after a drive this long

Executive Transportation saved the day after another bus company fell through last minute.

Meghan ForesmanRider review

Our group of 7 needed a ride from Chicago O’Hare to Springfield. The vehicle was clean and comfortable.

Jen DeJong · Rider review

The scheduling process was seamless, and the timely pickup from Bloomington airport made my journey stress-free.

Parris Smith · Rider review

Manufacturers and suppliers with plants in west Michigan move the same staff back and forth on a schedule, which is what corporate airport transfers are arranged around.

When a whole group is traveling to the same event on the same day, event transportation keeps the arrivals on one timetable instead of five.

Grand Rapids questions

What people ask before booking a GRR car

The answers below use the airport’s own published guidance, checked on grr.org in September 2026, together with our calibrated drive times.

How far ahead should I book a car service to Grand Rapids?

Executive Transportation prefers 72 hours’ notice for a Gerald R. Ford International transfer, and about a week when the party needs a coach. This is a long run, so the early departures fill first. Call anytime, and give a coordinator the airline, the flight and the headcount to hold a vehicle.

Call (217) 523-5466 or request a quote.

Where does the chauffeur meet you at GRR?

Executive Transportation meets you inside at baggage claim, not in either public shelter. Grand Rapids routes taxis out of doors 5 and 7 to the Parking Shuttle Shelter and rideshare out of door 4, and publishes nothing for liveries, so your chauffeur takes the bags at the carousel and walks you out to the car in the commercial vehicle area.

See how airport transportation works.

Is Grand Rapids in a different time zone?

Gerald R. Ford International runs on Eastern time while Central Illinois runs on Central, so the clock moves an hour on this trip in each direction. Executive Transportation builds every pickup in the local time of the address we are collecting from, then works the flight in Eastern time.

Ask a coordinator at (217) 523-5466 what your pickup time works out to.

What happens if my flight into Grand Rapids is late?

Executive Transportation wants that call to dispatch the moment the airline tells you. Lake-effect weather moves this airport more than most, and the vehicle is held against the flight number and scheduled arrival you gave us at booking rather than a screen. A call is what moves it, and someone answers 24 hours a day.

Call (217) 523-5466 to move a booked pickup.

How is the price for a GRR car service set?

Executive Transportation builds a GRR quote from hours, for the vehicle and the chauffeur together, and the minimum is written into it before you book. The figure follows the hours a Grand Rapids run takes door to door and the vehicle class. One quote covers the vehicle, so a group of six is not buying six seats.

Request a Quote with your dates.

Which vehicle should a group book for Grand Rapids?

Executive Transportation offers a sedan for two or three, an SUV for five or six, a Sprinter for fourteen and coaches up to thirty-five. On a drive this long, legroom counts as much as trunk space, so a coordinator will want the bag count and the headcount before recommending one.

Compare the full fleet.

Do you pick up from private jets and charter flights at Grand Rapids?

Executive Transportation drives the general aviation side of the field as well as the terminal. The airport lists two fixed base operators, Avflight and Signature Aviation, so name yours at booking. We meet the aircraft at that FBO door, load plane-side where the operator allows it, and carry crew and passengers together.

Send the tail number when you book the chauffeur.

Can you drive from Grand Rapids to South Bend, Fort Wayne or O’Hare?

Executive Transportation drives Gerald R. Ford International to South Bend, Gary, Fort Wayne and Chicago O’Hare as single bookings, with the luggage staying where you put it. It is the standard fix when the outbound and the return are not from the same field. Send both flight numbers at booking.

See every airport we drive.

Three things riders mention after a Grand Rapids run.

  • A group still pays one figure

Quoted by the hour with the minimum stated up front, so weather and construction are planned into the hours and a group shares one figure.

  • Door to door, no lot and no shelter line

Bags loaded at your door and set down at the terminal entrance, with no week-long parking ticket to keep hold of.

  • Dispatch answers day and night

Long runs start early and land late, and a person picks up the phone at either end of them.
