Lexington (LEX) Car Service & Chauffeured Transportation

A one-building airport, one baggage claim, and a chauffeur already standing at it.

Blue Grass is small enough that the walk from the carousel to the roadway takes less time than finding a parked car, which is exactly why it rewards being collected. Executive Transportation sends a uniformed chauffeur to your door, carries the luggage, and meets you at baggage claim when you fly back in.

Know the airport

What to know about Blue Grass Airport

Blue Grass Airport, code LEX, is Lexington’s airport and one of the simpler fields we drive: a single passenger terminal, one roadway, and ground transportation described as a short walk from baggage claim rather than by lane. Private jet and charter traffic is a genuine part of the work here, and it runs through the fixed base operator on the other side of the field.

One terminal, one exit

Blue Grass puts taxi and hotel shuttle service just outside the exit from baggage claim, which is the whole ground transportation story for most arrivals. Ride app passengers are sent instead to a designated pick-up point between the terminal and the rental car facility, and the LexTran bus stops next to the cell phone waiting area on weekdays between six in the morning and six in the evening.

Where your chauffeur stands at Blue Grass

The airport lists limousine service among the options available but publishes no separate livery lane, so the vehicle uses the designated commercial vehicle pickup area outside that same exit. Your chauffeur, though, is inside at baggage claim with your name, takes the luggage, and walks you out, which on a building this size means the car is in sight as you reach the door.

A field that runs on events as much as schedules

Horse sales, stakes weekends and university dates fill this airport in bursts rather than evenly. That shows up as pressure on vehicles rather than on the terminal, so a group traveling around a known event date should book earlier than the notice we normally ask for.

Tell us the airline and the flight

With one terminal there is no wrong building to arrive at, so what a reservation coordinator actually needs is the airline, the flight number and the scheduled time. Those decide the pickup time and where the chauffeur stands, and both travel with the booking if the flight changes.

Ground transportation, parking and fixed base operator details checked on the airport’s own site, bluegrassairport.com, on September 17, 2026. Blue Grass revises these pages, so confirm anything time sensitive before you travel.

Departures and arrivals at Blue Grass

One roadway does both jobs, which is the nicest thing about this airport.

Departures

Your door to the Blue Grass entrance

  1. Open with the airline and the flight numberA coordinator wants the airline and flight number, the scheduled departure, the number of travelers and the luggage. The vehicle is held on that and confirmed straight back.
  2. We count back from your departure timeCheck-in advice first, then the run, then a cushion for the parts of the route that genuinely slow down. You are given one pickup time rather than a window to interpret.
  3. Luggage handled at both endsThe chauffeur loads at your address and unloads at the terminal door. Nothing is dragged across a lot, at either end of a long day.
  4. Dropped at the terminal entranceOne building means one drop. The car stops at the entrance and the counters are a short walk inside, which is the part of this airport regular travelers like.

Arrivals

From the bag belt to your own front door

  1. Give us the flight numberThe flight number and the scheduled arrival belong on the booking, and dispatch resets them by phone if the day changes. That line is staffed after the last connection of the evening too.
  2. Collect your bagsBaggage claim sits beside the exit to the roadway, so the bags and the door are effectively the same stop.
  3. Your chauffeur is beside the beltTaxis and hotel shuttles work the roadway outside, and ride apps are sent between the terminal and the rental car facility. You skip all of that: your chauffeur is waiting at baggage claim, takes the cases, and walks you out to the vehicle in the commercial pickup area.
  4. Event weekends change the rhythmSale weeks and race weekends put far more traffic on this roadway than a normal Tuesday. The chauffeur allows for it, and dispatch would rather hold a vehicle early than have you waiting beside a carousel for a car.

Private jets and charter

Private jet and charter flights at Blue Grass

Lexington sees more private aviation than its airline schedule suggests, because horses, bourbon and the university all bring people in on their own aircraft. Executive Transportation drives that side of the field with the same uniformed chauffeur and the same held vehicle as a scheduled flight.

  • 01

    Pickup at the FBO door

Private and charter arrivals are handled through the fixed base operator rather than the passenger terminal, so baggage claim is not your stop. The chauffeur waits at the FBO door on Hangar Drive rather than the airline terminal.

  • 02

Around the clock, which this field needs

The airport says services at the operator are offered 24 hours a day. A charter that leaves after a sale finishes or lands the night before a stakes race still gets a car at the door.

  • 03

    Luggage loaded plane-side

Ramp rules permitting, the cases travel from the hold to the trunk without a luggage cart in between. Otherwise the bags change hands at the FBO door, where the car is already standing.

  • 04

The crew one way, the passengers another

Flight crews and passengers usually want different destinations at the same moment. Both travel on a single booking, in one vehicle or two, and a Sprinter takes a whole party with room for hard cases.

Give us a tail number, the operator handling you and the time you expect to be down. Sale weeks move schedules constantly, so dispatch takes the call whenever it happens. We prefer 72 hours’ notice, but call anytime. Short-notice trips depend on availability.

Why be driven

Four reasons to be driven to Blue Grass

This is the longest run on our board, into another time zone, and that is precisely the trip nobody should drive themselves on the morning of a meeting.

One hourly quote for the whole Lexington run

The vehicle and chauffeur are quoted by the hour with the minimum stated up front, and the hours are built around what the parkway is known for. Four travelers landing at Blue Grass together share one figure.

Door to door on a one-building airport

Loaded at your door, set down at the terminal entrance, met at baggage claim on the way back. No lot, no shuttle, no ticket to keep for a week.

The drive becomes working time

On a run this length the back seat is the office. Take the calls, prepare the meeting, or sleep the early start off before you arrive.

Uniformed chauffeurs since 2004

Two decades of airport work sit behind this, starting in 2004. Chauffeurs come in uniform, arrive ahead of the time you were given, and know what a sale weekend does to a small airport roadway.

The fleet

Fleet for this run

Lexington runs are quoted by the hour, for the whole vehicle. Say who is traveling and what they are bringing, and the right vehicle is settled in one call.

Whichever you book, a uniformed chauffeur drives it. Parties of eight to ten with an occasion to mark usually take the stretch limousine.

Cities we connect to LEX

Where our Blue Grass runs start

Lexington sits at the outer edge of the distance we drive as a single run, so the calibrated origin for this field is Champaign-Urbana. Executive Transportation still collects from the rest of Central Illinois, and a coordinator will build the hours from your own address rather than guess at them.

The figure below is a clear-road drive to the terminal, and the clock gains an hour eastbound because Kentucky keeps Eastern time here. On a trip this long the pickup is built backward from the flight, with a real cushion rather than an optimistic one.

A calibrated clear-road figure, and the floor rather than a promise. Springfield, Decatur, Bloomington-Normal, Effingham and Mattoon all run longer than this; ask a coordinator for the number on yours before you plan around it.

Wherever the run begins, the vehicle is quoted once.

Park or be driven

Park at Blue Grass, or be driven to it

Parking here is cheap by any standard, so the honest comparison is not the lot. It is what the drive costs you before the first barrier, and what a day at the wheel is worth.

  • Cheapest official lot$14The daily maximum in long-term parking, with the first 30 minutes free at either lot.
  • Short term and valet$17The short term daily maximum; valet runs $25 a day, and all rates carry a 6 percent sales tax.
  • The drive itself$477.28A Champaign-Urbana round trip of 628 miles at the IRS business rate of 76 cents a mile, before any parking at all.

Five days in long-term parking on top of that mileage is about $547, and the two days behind the wheel are still gone. See how a car service is priced before you compare.

Parking rates from bluegrassairport.com, checked September 17, 2026, before the 6 percent sales tax the airport applies. The 76 cents a mile applied to the Champaign-Urbana round trip is the irs.gov business rate for July 1 to December 31, 2026. We quote the vehicle by the hour, with the minimum stated up front, so ask a coordinator for yours.

Airport to airport

Popular transfers between Blue Grass and other airports

Lexington is often the arrival and a bigger field is the departure, or the other way around. Executive Transportation drives that leg in one vehicle rather than leaving you to rent a car for it.

Each card is the drive between Blue Grass and the airport named, in either direction. Book the inbound and the outbound together, with the time each one is scheduled for, and telephone us if either changes.

Meghan ForesmanRider review

The scheduling process was seamless, and the timely pickup from Bloomington airport made my journey stress-free.

Parris Smith · Rider review

Our group of 7 needed a ride from Chicago O’Hare to Springfield. The vehicle was clean and comfortable.

Jen DeJong · Rider review

Equine businesses, distillers and university departments all bring visitors into Lexington on dates set months ahead, which is the kind of travel corporate airport transfers are built around.

When a whole party is arriving for the same sale or the same meeting, event transportation keeps every arrival on one schedule.

Lexington questions

What people ask before booking an LEX car

The answers below use Blue Grass Airport’s own published guidance, checked on bluegrassairport.com in September 2026, and our calibrated drive times.

How far ahead should I book a car service to Lexington?

Executive Transportation prefers 72 hours’ notice for a Blue Grass transfer, and more than that around sale weeks and race weekends when vehicles go early. A coach needs about a week. Call anytime, and give a coordinator the airline, the flight number and the headcount so a vehicle can be held.

Call (217) 523-5466 or request a quote.

Where does the chauffeur meet you at LEX?

Executive Transportation meets you inside at baggage claim, takes the luggage, and walks you out to the vehicle in the commercial vehicle area. Blue Grass puts taxis and hotel shuttles outside that same exit and sends ride app passengers off between the terminal and the rental car facility, so there is no guessing which door.

See how airport transportation works.

Is Lexington on Eastern time?

Blue Grass Airport keeps Eastern time while Central Illinois keeps Central, so the clock moves an hour in each direction on this trip. Executive Transportation builds the pickup in the local time of your collection address and works the flight in airport time, so the two never get mixed up.

Ask a coordinator at (217) 523-5466 what your pickup time works out to.

What happens if my flight into Lexington is late?

Executive Transportation books your car to the flight number and scheduled arrival you supplied, rather than to a screen in an office, so the pickup only moves when somebody calls dispatch. Do that as soon as you know. The line is staffed whatever the hour of the delay.

Call (217) 523-5466 to move a booked pickup.

How is the price for an LEX car service set?

Executive Transportation quotes the vehicle and chauffeur by the hour, with the minimum hours stated up front in writing. A Lexington run is long, so the hours it takes door to door, the vehicle class and whether you want one leg or a round trip set the figure. One quote covers the vehicle, not six seats.

Request a Quote with your dates.

Which vehicle should a group book for Lexington?

Executive Transportation carries two or three in a sedan, five or six in an SUV, fourteen in a Sprinter van and up to thirty-five on a coach. Over the longest distance we drive, comfort matters as much as capacity, so a coordinator will ask about bags and legroom before recommending one.

Compare the full fleet.

Do you pick up from private jets and charter flights at Blue Grass?

Executive Transportation drives the general aviation side of Blue Grass as well as the terminal. The airport names Signature Aviation on Hangar Drive as its fixed base operator and says services run 24 hours a day. We meet the aircraft at that door, load plane-side where the ramp allows it, and carry crew and passengers together.

Send the tail number when you book the chauffeur.

Can you drive from Lexington to Louisville, Cincinnati or Dayton?

Executive Transportation drives Blue Grass to Louisville Muhammad Ali, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky and Dayton as single bookings, luggage untouched between the fields. It is the usual answer when the fare you want is at one airport and the schedule you need is at another. Send both flight numbers.

See every airport we drive.

Book the ride

Request your LEX ride

Three things riders mention after the run to Lexington.

  • One hourly figure, stated before you ride

The vehicle is quoted by the hour with the minimum named up front, so a party of six rides on one figure instead of six.

  • Door to door, on a one-building airport

Bags loaded at your door and set down at the terminal entrance, and a chauffeur at baggage claim when you come back.

  • Dispatch answers day and night

The longest runs start before dawn and finish after dark, and a person answers the phone at both ends of them.
