O’Hare parking cost is the number most Central Illinois travelers check first, and it is usually the smallest part of the bill. The official lots charge $16 to $43 a day. The drive from Springfield adds about 400 miles, seven hours, and a late-night trip home after you land.

The short version

When a car service wins
Longer trips, groups, business travelers who want the time back, and late returns.

This guide uses the Chicago Department of Aviation’s posted rates, checked in September 2026, and the IRS business mileage rate to show what a typical trip costs. Then it walks through when a chauffeured airport car service from Springfield makes more sense than driving and parking.

What O’Hare parking costs right now

O’Hare runs its own lots, and all posted rates include taxes. Here is what each on-airport option charges for a full day.

How O’Hare long-term parking adds up

O’Hare long-term parking gets expensive fast because every lot charges by the day. A short trip in the economy lots is reasonable. A week in the garage costs more than many people expect.

O’Hare parking cost by trip length
Trip lengthLot G or HLot FMain Garage daily
1 day$16$30$43
3 days$48$90$129
5 days$80$150$215
7 days$112$210$301

If you park longer than 30 days, O’Hare asks you to call the Parking Garage Office at (773) 686-7530 first. Vehicles left over 30 days without arrangements may be treated as abandoned.

The real cost of driving yourself from Springfield

Parking is only one line. The round trip from Springfield to O’Hare is about 402 miles. Many companies reimburse business driving at the IRS standard mileage rate, which is 76 cents a mile for the second half of 2026. That rate is meant to cover fuel, wear, and the other costs of running a car.

Example: a three-day business trip from Springfield
CostHow it is figuredLot GMain Garage
Mileage402 miles at 76 cents a mile$305.52$305.52
Parking3 days at the posted daily rate$48.00$129.00
TotalBefore tolls$353.52$434.52

That total still leaves out the biggest cost for most business travelers: about seven hours behind the wheel, plus the shuttle and train ride from a remote lot. For a salaried manager or a consultant who bills by the hour, those are working hours that disappear.

The parking receipt is the smallest part of the bill. The seven hours on I-55 are the part most travelers forget to count.

Driving and parking vs. a chauffeured car service

Drive and park

  • Lowest cost for one person on a short, flexible trip.
  • You leave whenever you want and keep your car at the airport.
  • The parking bill grows every day you are away.
  • About seven hours of driving you cannot use for work or rest.
  • You drive home after landing, often late and tired.

Chauffeured car service

  • Door to terminal from your home, office, or hotel in Central Illinois.
  • One quote covers everyone in the vehicle, so groups share the cost.
  • Take calls, answer email, or sleep on the way.
  • No parking bill, no mileage on your own car.
  • A uniformed chauffeur handles the drive home.

When a car service beats O’Hare parking

For a solo day trip, Economy Lot G is hard to beat on price. The math changes in these situations:

  • Trips of four days or more. A week in the Main Garage is $301 before you count a single mile.
  • Groups of three or more. One Sprinter Van or luxury SUV replaces several cars, several parking tickets, and several drivers.
  • Business travel. Our corporate airport transfers turn the drive into working time.
  • Early departures and late returns. A 6 a.m. flight means leaving Springfield around 1 a.m. Nobody should drive home at midnight after a delayed flight.
  • Winter weather. Snow on I-55 is a good reason to let someone else drive.
  • Visitors flying in. Clients and recruits landing at O’Hare can ride straight to Springfield instead of renting a car.

Tips if you do park at O’Hare

  • Check lot status before you leave. O’Hare posts which lots are open on its parking status page.
  • Know your vehicle height. The Main Garage clearance is 6 feet 6 inches. Taller vehicles and roof boxes fit in outdoor Lots B and C, which clear 9 feet and 8 feet 5 inches.
  • Stay off Level 1 overnight. Hourly parking is for stays under three hours and reaches $79 for a full day.
  • Bring a credit card for Lot H. It does not take cash.
  • Pick covered parking in winter. Economy Lot F is covered and connects to the Airport Transit System.

O’Hare parking and car service questions

How much does it cost to park at O’Hare for a week?

Executive Transportation checked the Chicago Department of Aviation’s posted rates in September 2026: a week costs about $112 in Economy Lot G or H, $210 in covered Economy Lot F, and $301 in the Main Garage daily levels. Parking bills grow every day you are gone. Executive Transportation can drive you from Springfield to O’Hare instead, so there is no parking bill at all. Call (217) 523-5466 or request a quote.

What is the cheapest parking at O’Hare?

Executive Transportation’s review of the official rates found Economy Lots G and H are the cheapest on-airport parking at O’Hare, at $16 per day. Both are remote lots, so you ride a shuttle to the Multi-Modal Facility and then the Airport Transit System to your terminal. If you would rather skip the lot and the shuttle, a chauffeur can drop you at the departures door. See our O’Hare car service page.

Is there a car service from Springfield, IL to O’Hare?

Yes. Executive Transportation drives travelers from Springfield, Illinois, to Chicago O’Hare, about 201 miles and three and a half hours each way. Choose an executive sedan for up to three passengers, a luxury SUV for up to six, or a Sprinter van for up to 14. Pickups are available from homes, offices, and hotels across Central Illinois. Call (217) 523-5466 to book.

Is it cheaper to drive to O’Hare or hire a car service from Central Illinois?

Executive Transportation’s example shows that driving your own car from Springfield and parking three days in Lot G costs about $354 when you count mileage at the IRS business rate. You also get about seven hours of drive time back. Request a Quote to compare for your trip.

How far in advance should I book a ride to O’Hare from Springfield?

Executive Transportation prefers 72 hours’ notice for O’Hare trips and about a week for large groups, but you can call anytime. Short-notice rides depend on vehicle availability, and our dispatch team answers 24 hours a day. Call (217) 523-5466 or request a ride online.
