South Bend Airport (SBN) Car Service & Chauffeured Transportation

One front door, one covered entrance, and a chauffeur waiting inside it.

South Bend is a compact airport with an unusual amount going on around it: a commuter rail line that runs to Chicago from the same building, a busy general aviation ramp, and a football calendar that fills every hotel in the county. Executive Transportation puts a uniformed chauffeur at your door for all of it, terminal or FBO.

Know the airport

What to know about South Bend International

South Bend International Airport, code SBN, runs one passenger terminal with the rental counters inside it and a commuter rail platform at the east end of the same building. It is the airport for Notre Dame, for the RV plants around Elkhart, and for a general aviation ramp that carries two fixed base operators.

One terminal, and a rail station attached to it

This is the detail that surprises people. The South Shore rail line connects South Bend International with cities throughout Northwestern Indiana and finishes in downtown Chicago, and tickets are sold at the terminal’s east end. Useful to know, and also the reason a car and a train sometimes end up on the same itinerary.

Where the chauffeur is when you walk off the flight

The airport permits limousine and car services to drop off and pick up, and it puts the taxi stand on the main drive outside the front entrance of the terminal. It does not publish a separate livery lane, and you never need to find one: your chauffeur meets you inside at baggage claim, takes the luggage, and walks you out to the vehicle.

Rental counters are inside, and so is the information desk

The airport says its rental car partners are located right inside the terminal, and the Airport Information Center sits near baggage claim across from the United ticket counter. That is the whole orientation problem solved, which is not something you can say about most airports.

Two fixed base operators share the general aviation side

Atlantic Aviation and Signature Aviation both work the field, on Lathrop Street, and the airport names both on its own general aviation page. Which one your aircraft is going to decides where the car waits, so the tail number and the operator go on the booking.

Terminal, parking, rail and ground transportation details checked on the airport’s own site, flysbn.com, on September 17, 2026, along with the published parking rates and the general aviation page. flysbn.com changes without notice, so check anything time sensitive close to the day you fly.

Departures and arrivals at South Bend

One front door does both jobs here, which makes the confirmation call the important part.

Departures

Your door to the SBN terminal front

  1. Give us the flightThe airline, the flight number and when it is scheduled out. One terminal means there is no building to specify and nothing to get wrong on the drop.
  2. Your drop-off time comes back off the departureThe drop-off time comes from what your airline asks for, then the run north, then a cushion. The approach into Michiana is not the problem; the weather on the way up sometimes is.
  3. Bags at your doorThe chauffeur is out and loading before you reach the trunk, at a house, an office or a hotel portico, and again at the terminal.
  4. Terminal front, under the canopyThe drop is at the terminal door, where the covered entrance keeps the January arrival civil. Check-in and the checkpoint are a short walk inside.

Arrivals

The SBN front door back to yours

  1. Give us the inbound flight numberWe need the flight number and the scheduled arrival, plus a call if either changes. Somebody answers the phone at any hour, which is what a late connection through Chicago needs.
  2. Claim your bagsBaggage claim is in the same building, and the Airport Information Center sits near it, across from the United ticket counter, if you need a person rather than a sign.
  3. The chauffeur is at the beltSouth Bend puts the taxi stand on the main drive outside the front entrance and publishes no dedicated livery lane, so nobody from us is waiting out there. Your chauffeur is inside at baggage claim with your name, takes the bags, and walks you to the vehicle.
  4. Or off the train, if that is the planSome riders fly into Chicago and take the South Shore line to the airport station at the terminal’s east end. Tell us which and the car meets the train instead of the flight.

A changed flight needs a phone call. Your booking ties the vehicle to the flight number and the time you gave us, which is why only a call can change it. Dispatch is at (217) 523-5466 at any hour, including the ones nobody wants to be awake for.

Private jets and charter

Private jet and charter flights at South Bend International

South Bend carries more private flying than its terminal suggests, because two fixed base operators share the field and the region around it runs on manufacturing and a very busy football calendar. Executive Transportation drives that side of the airport with the same vehicles and the same uniformed chauffeurs.

  • 01

    Pickup at the FBO door

Tell us which operator you are going to and the car waits at that entrance. There are two on the field here, both on Lathrop Street, so naming the FBO on the booking is what saves the phone call when you land.

  • 02

    Luggage loaded plane-side

Where the operator and the ramp allow it, the bags go straight between the aircraft and the trunk. Where they do not, the handover happens at the FBO door with the car already standing there.

  • 03

The crew and the party on one reservation

A crew needs a hotel and the passengers need a plant or a stadium, usually at once. Both ride on a single reservation, in one vehicle or two, and the crew is not left waiting for a car to return.

    A Sprinter for the delegation

A jet full of executives, a board or a visiting group fits one Sprinter with room for hard cases and a stand-up aisle. Past fourteen it becomes a coach, and the price is still for the vehicle rather than the seat.

The tail number, the operator and the scheduled arrival are what we need at booking, and a call to dispatch if any of them move. There is a person on that line whatever hour the aircraft lands. We prefer 72 hours’ notice, but call anytime. Short-notice trips depend on availability.

Executive Transportation is a ground transportation company. We drive to the aircraft, we do not charter it.

Why be driven

Four reasons to be driven to SBN

The run north is straightforward until it is not, and Michiana weather is the usual reason. Here is what a chauffeur takes off your hands on this one.

The run is quoted once, for the vehicle

The vehicle and chauffeur are quoted by the hour with the minimum stated up front, so the lake effect weather this run is known for is planned into the hours. Six people on the same flight share one vehicle instead of buying six seats.

No lot, and no walk back to a cold car

South Bend currently lists its short-term lot and valet as closed for construction, which makes self-parking less convenient than it used to be. The chauffeur drops at the front entrance instead.

Lake effect weather belongs to somebody else

The last stretch into Michiana can turn in an afternoon. Riding it out in the back seat with the work in front of you is a different experience from driving it.

Uniformed chauffeurs since 2004

Executive Transportation has driven the long northbound routes since 2004. The chauffeur is uniformed, early, and in touch with you before you reach the doors.

The fleet

Fleet for this run

Every South Bend transfer is quoted by the hour for the whole vehicle, so the question is only which one the party and its luggage fit into. Give a coordinator both numbers.

A uniformed chauffeur is part of the vehicle, not an extra. A stretch limousine seats 8 to 10 when the party would rather make one entrance than two.

Cities we connect to SBN

Where our South Bend runs start

Executive Transportation drives to South Bend International from across Central Illinois, in both directions, on one quote for the whole vehicle. These are the cities the South Bend work comes from most, and each one has a page of its own.

The times below assume clear roads all the way to the terminal front. Give dispatch the flight rather than the drive: the pickup is built backward from your departure, and the northern approaches run longer in the weekday peaks and in lake effect snow.

Wherever the car collects you, the quote is for the vehicle.

Park or be driven

Park at South Bend, or be driven to it

South Bend is inexpensive to park at and currently awkward to park at, because two of its lots are closed while the airport builds. Here is what it charges, and what the drive costs first.

  • Long term, per day$13The published 24-hour maximum, after a free first 30 minutes and $1 for the first hour.
  • Short term and valetClosedThe airport currently lists both as closed for construction, so a drop-off plan that assumed them needs rethinking.
  • The drive itself$399.76A Springfield round trip of 526 miles at the IRS business rate of 76 cents a mile, before anything is parked.

Four days in the long-term lot on top of that mileage is about $452, and it does not count the eight hours of driving. Read how we price a long transfer.

Parking rates and lot closures from flysbn.com, checked September 17, 2026. Mileage rate from irs.gov: the 526-mile South Bend round trip is worked at 76 cents a mile, the business standard that applies from July 1 to December 31, 2026. Every transfer we quote is by the hour with a minimum stated up front, so ask a coordinator what yours comes to.

Airport to airport

Popular transfers between South Bend and other airports

South Bend sits close enough to Chicago that the fare comparison is a genuine question on every trip. When the answer is a different field, Executive Transportation drives the gap in one vehicle.

Each card is the drive between South Bend and the airport named, in either direction. We want both flight numbers and both scheduled times on the booking, and a call if one of them changes.

Both ends of the trip on one booking, and one figure for the vehicle.

The northbound work is mostly supplier visits, campus travel and game weekends, which means groups and fixed times. Corporate airport transfers are arranged as a single run or as a season of them.

South Bend questions

What people ask before booking an SBN car

The answers below use the airport’s own published guidance, checked on flysbn.com in September 2026, plus the calibrated drive times we quote from.

How far ahead should I book a car service to South Bend?

Executive Transportation prefers 72 hours’ notice for a South Bend transfer, and closer to a week for a group that needs a coach. Football weekends fill earlier than that, so call as soon as the dates are real. Tell a coordinator the flight, the address and how many are riding and the vehicle is held.

Call (217) 523-5466 or request a quote.

Does a train really run from South Bend airport to Chicago?

It does. South Bend International says the South Shore rail line connects the airport with cities throughout Northwestern Indiana and finishes in downtown Chicago, with tickets sold at the terminal’s east end. Some riders fly one leg and ride the other, and we meet the train just as readily as a flight.

Tell dispatch which one you are arriving on, at (217) 523-5466.

Where does the chauffeur meet you at South Bend International?

Executive Transportation meets arriving passengers inside the terminal at baggage claim. The airport puts the taxi stand on the main drive outside the entrance and publishes no separate livery lane, so rather than send you out to look for a car, your chauffeur is waiting at the belt with your name, takes the bags, and walks you out to the vehicle.

See how airport transportation works.

What happens if my flight into South Bend is late?

Executive Transportation wants to hear from you as soon as the airline posts a new time. The vehicle is held against the flight number and scheduled arrival you gave us at booking, not against a screen we are watching, so the call is what moves it. The line is answered 24 hours a day, including at 1 a.m.

Call (217) 523-5466 to move a booked pickup.

How is the price for a South Bend car service set?

Executive Transportation quotes a South Bend transfer by the hour, vehicle and chauffeur together, with the minimum hours written into the quote before you commit. The hours the northbound run takes decide the figure, along with the vehicle and whether a return leg goes on at the same time. The figure is for the whole vehicle, so six travelers bound for Michiana share it rather than paying by the seat.

Request a Quote with your dates.

Which vehicle should a group book for South Bend?

Executive Transportation runs executive sedans for two to three passengers, luxury SUVs for five to six, Sprinter vans for fourteen and coaches for parties up to thirty-five. Winter coats and checked bags settle it faster than headcount does, so tell a coordinator what is traveling as well as who is.

Compare the full fleet.

Do you pick up from private jets and charter flights at South Bend?

Executive Transportation drives the general aviation side of South Bend International as well as the terminal. Two fixed base operators work the field, Atlantic Aviation and Signature Aviation, so name yours on the booking and the car waits at that FBO door rather than the airline terminal. Crew and passengers ride on one reservation.

Send the tail number when you book the chauffeur.

Is the short-term lot at South Bend open?

South Bend International currently lists both its short-term lot and its valet service as closed for construction, with long-term parking running to a published 24-hour maximum of $13. The airport can reopen them at any time, so check flysbn.com before you plan a drop-off around either one.

Or skip the lot entirely and call (217) 523-5466.

Request your SBN ride

Three things riders tell us made the difference on a South Bend run.

  • One figure, not six tickets

Quoted by the hour for the whole vehicle, with the minimum named up front, so the traffic on the way north is built into the hours. Six travelers share one car.

  • Met at baggage claim, not outside

No dedicated livery lane here, so your chauffeur is inside at the belt with your name and walks you out to the vehicle with the bags.

  • Dispatch answers day and night

Late connections through Chicago are most of this work, and somebody picks up the phone at either end of them.
