Indianapolis Airport Parking Cost vs. Being Driven

What the official IND lots charge, how Eastern time bends a departure plan, and when a chauffeured ride from Central Illinois beats parking.

Indianapolis airport parking cost starts at $9 a day in the Economy Lot, which undercuts the cheapest lot at O’Hare. The catch at IND is not on the meter; it is on the clock. Indiana keeps Eastern time, so every departure out of Indianapolis happens an hour earlier than it reads on a Central Illinois calendar.

The short version

Indianapolis in one card

Best fit
The eastern side of our area. Champaign-Urbana to IND is about 131 miles and 2 hours 5 minutes, closer than O’Hare or Lambert.
Parking
$9 a day in the Economy Lot, $14 in Park & Walk, $23 in the Terminal Garage, $32 for valet, checked September 15, 2026.
The trap
Eastern time. An 8 a.m. boarding pass is a 7 a.m. event at home, and the drive still has to fit before it.
From Springfield
About 206 miles and 3 hours 10 minutes, which swings the math toward being driven.

The rates below come from the Indianapolis Airport Authority’s own parking pages, checked September 15, 2026. The drive times are the runs our chauffeurs make. Airport pricing moves, so treat all of it as a snapshot.

Who Indianapolis actually suits in Central Illinois

Airport choice here is a map problem. Chicago sits north, St. Louis sits southwest, Indianapolis sits east. Only the eastern third of our area gains from the eastern airport, and for those addresses the gain is real.

Driving time to three large airports, by home city

Decaturabout 2 hr 45 minabout 3 hr 10 minabout 2 hr 20 min
Springfieldabout 3 hr 10 minabout 3 hr 27 minabout 1 hr 40 min

Champaign-Urbana is the strongest case on that board. I-74 runs straight in, with no metro approach to survive first, and the airport sits about seven miles from downtown Indianapolis. Decatur is a fair call when the fare or the schedule is better. Springfield is the harder sell on distance, though we run it whenever the nonstop only exists at IND. Our territory also reaches east to Terre Haute, Indiana, where Indianapolis is simply the home airport.

Size helps as well. IND lists more than 40 nonstop destinations across eleven airlines, and it all runs from one terminal with two concourses rather than a campus you have to learn. Routes and vehicles are on our Indianapolis airport transportation page.

Indianapolis airport parking cost at every official lot

The airport runs all of its own parking: four paid choices and one free holding lot. The spread between the cheapest and the most convenient is $23 a day.

What several days in the lots adds up to

One overnight at IND is cheap enough to ignore. Trade shows, sales weeks, and vacations are where a daily rate turns into a real number.

IND parking by length of trip
Days parkedEconomy LotPark & WalkTerminal Garage
2 days$18$28$46
4 days$36$56$92
6 days$54$84$138
10 days$90$140$230

The cheap column assumes you will ride the shuttle at both ends, including the night you land. The Economy Lot also fills first in peak weeks, which puts you in the $23 garage by default.

Eastern time is the part that ruins plans

Marion County, Indiana, keeps Eastern time, and Indiana observes daylight saving time, so the hour between Indianapolis and home never closes. Your phone adjusts somewhere on I-74 without announcing it. Your itinerary already prints the departure in Indianapolis local time, which means it quietly contains the hour you are about to lose.

A flight out of Indianapolis leaves an hour earlier than it looks on a Central Illinois calendar.

Work an 8 a.m. Eastern departure backward. Reach the terminal 90 minutes ahead and that is 6:30 a.m. in Indianapolis, 5:30 a.m. at home. From Champaign-Urbana, the 2 hour 5-minute drive means pulling out around 3:25 a.m. From Springfield, the 3 hour 10-minute run means leaving around 2:20 a.m., and that is before parking, the shuttle, and security.

Coming home the hour works for you. A landing at 9:40 p.m. Eastern is 8:40 p.m. at home, and a Springfield traveler still faces a drive that ends near 1 a.m.

Set one clock Put every Indianapolis time in your calendar as Eastern, the pickup included, and let the drive adjust around it.

The drive, and what the miles are worth

The road part is easy. I-74 carries Champaign and Danville, I-72 into I-74 carries Decatur and Springfield, and there is no city approach to time. What it costs depends on how you value the car. The IRS business standard mileage rate is 76 cents a mile from July 1 through December 31, 2026, and 72.5 cents for the first half of the year. It covers fuel, tires, maintenance, and depreciation together.

FromOne way milesRound tripMileage value
Champaign-Urbana131262$199.12
Decatur171342$259.92
Springfield206412$313.12

Now add parking. Six days out of Champaign-Urbana, in the cheapest lot, looks like this.

Six days from Champaign-Urbana, driving and parking yourself
LineBasisAmount
Mileage262 round trip miles at 76 cents$199.12
Parking6 days in the Economy Lot at $9$54.00
TotalBefore fuel stops and meals$253.12

The same six days from Springfield lands just past $370, and none of that counts the eight or nine hours behind the wheel.

Parking yourself or riding down

Your own car at IND

  • Cheapest on a short solo trip in the Economy Lot.
  • Your schedule stays entirely in your hands.
  • Every extra day adds to the bill.
  • The pre-dawn start lands on you.
  • A shuttle at both ends, including after a delayed arrival.

Chauffeured transfer

  • Home, office, or hotel to the departures door.
  • One quote covers the vehicle, so a group divides it.
  • Someone else holds the Eastern time math.
  • No parking charge and no miles on your car.
  • The 1 a.m. driving belongs to a uniformed chauffeur.

When a chauffeured transfer is the better answer

For one traveler on a quick trip out of Champaign, the Economy Lot is a fair deal. The case for booking airport transportation instead gets stronger here:

  • Trips past four or five days. Garage parking alone is $138 for six days, before a single mile.
  • Three or more people. One luxury SUV seats five to six with luggage and replaces two cars.
  • Anything leaving before 8 a.m. Eastern. That is a middle of the night departure from home.
  • Business travel. Corporate airport transfers turn the drive into usable time.
  • Winter weather. Central Illinois ice does not care what your boarding time says.
  • People flying in to see you. A client landing at IND rides straight to your office.

  1. Send us the flight. Call (217) 523-5466 or request a quote online with the pickup address, the flight number, the departure in Indianapolis local time, and how many are riding.
  2. We build the schedule from the airport clock. The pickup is set backward from the Eastern time departure, with the drive and the walk from the door to the gate inside it.
  3. Pick the vehicle. An executive sedan seats two to three, a luxury SUV five to six, a Sprinter van up to 14.
  4. Add the return. Give us the arrival flight and its scheduled time, and the ride home goes on the board with the outbound.

We prefer 72 hours’ notice, closer to a week for large groups, and dispatch answers at any hour. Details for the two most common runs are at Springfield to Indianapolis airport and Champaign to Indianapolis airport.

Indianapolis airport questions from Central Illinois travelers

What does parking at Indianapolis International Airport cost per day?

Executive Transportation checked the airport’s posted rates on September 15, 2026. The Economy Lot is $9 per day, Park & Walk is $14, the Terminal Garage is $23, and valet is $32. The garage bills short visits at $2 per half hour. The airport sets these rates and can change them, so confirm on ind.com before you pack. Call (217) 523-5466 to price the ride instead.

Is Indianapolis in a different time zone than Illinois?

Executive Transportation builds every Indianapolis run around this fact: Marion County, Indiana, keeps Eastern time, one hour ahead of Central Illinois, and Indiana observes daylight saving time, so the gap holds all year. A flight leaving IND at 8 a.m. leaves at 7 a.m. on your kitchen clock. Your chauffeur works from the airport clock. See the Indianapolis airport car service page.

How far is Champaign-Urbana from the Indianapolis airport?

Executive Transportation drives Champaign-Urbana travelers about 131 miles to Indianapolis International, roughly 2 hours 5 minutes on I-74. From the same address, O’Hare is about 2 hours 35 minutes and St. Louis Lambert about 2 hours 45 minutes, so Indianapolis is the closest large airport. We pick up at homes, offices, and campus addresses. See Champaign to Indianapolis airport.

Should someone in Central Illinois fly out of Indianapolis or Chicago?

Executive Transportation drives to whichever airport fits the fare and the schedule. Indianapolis lists more than 40 nonstop destinations and sits about seven miles from downtown Indianapolis, which suits the eastern half of our territory, roughly Champaign, Danville, and points along I-74. From Springfield and west, Chicago and St. Louis usually win on driving time. Compare with our O’Hare parking breakdown.

How much does a car service from Central Illinois to the Indianapolis airport cost?

Executive Transportation prices each Indianapolis trip on distance, vehicle size, passenger count, and the hour of the pickup, and one quote covers everybody riding. A luxury SUV carries five to six people with luggage, so a family or a project team splits a single fare instead of feeding two parking meters and two odometers. Request a Quote with your flight details.

Can a car service collect me from a late flight at Indianapolis International?

Executive Transportation picks up arriving travelers at Indianapolis and drives them home to Springfield, Champaign, Decatur, Bloomington-Normal, and the rest of Central Illinois. Book the return alongside the outbound trip and give us the flight number plus the scheduled arrival in Eastern time. Dispatch answers 24 hours a day, and short-notice rides depend on vehicle availability. Call (217) 523-5466 to set up the return.
