Springfield to Indianapolis Airport Car Service
Three hours of interstate, and an hour you lose at the state line.
This is the longest eastbound airport run the capital books, and the most misjudged, because the departure time on the boarding pass belongs to a different clock. A uniformed chauffeur collects you at the door, loads the cases, and stops at the departures level.

The run at a glance
Springfield to Indianapolis, end to end
The capital to Indianapolis International measures 206 miles and about 3 hr 10 min on clear roads, east along Interstate 72 and then Interstate 74. The road is not the hard part of this trip. The hour that disappears at the Indiana line is.
- The run206 miSpringfield to the Weir Cook Terminal roadways
- Clear roads3 hr 10 minThe calibrated drive, I-72 then I-74
- The clock at IND1 hr aheadMarion County keeps Eastern time, daylight saving included
I-72 to the Champaign area, then I-74 into Indiana
Two interstates, one interchange, and open country almost the whole way. Nothing here behaves like a metro approach, so the calibrated figure survives a real Tuesday. Weather and construction are the only honest reasons to add to it.
An eastbound departure costs you an hour before you start
Indiana observes daylight saving and Marion County sits in the Eastern zone, so that hour is permanent. A flight leaving Indianapolis at 9 a.m. leaves at 8 a.m. on a kitchen clock here, with a three hour drive still to fit underneath it. The conversion goes on the confirmation.
What the quote covers
The vehicle and chauffeur are quoted by the hour, with the minimum number of hours stated up front, and one figure covers the whole vehicle. A coordinator builds the hours from the flight and the road, so a slow stretch of I-74 is planned for, and six colleagues divide one figure.
Drive figures are the calibrated Central Illinois table this site publishes everywhere. Terminal, roadway and ground transportation details are the Indianapolis Airport Authority’s own, from ind.com, checked September 17, 2026, along with the published parking rates. Carrier deadlines and the Indiana time zone rule were checked September 15, 2026. These pages get revised, so confirm anything time sensitive before you travel.
How the run goes
The eastbound trip, then the ride back west
One terminal door going, one garage deck coming back, and no guessing in between.
Outbound
Your door to the Indianapolis terminal door
- Hand over the flight in Indiana timeAirline, flight number and the departure as printed on the pass, which is Eastern. A coordinator converts it once, on the reservation, so nobody does it at 2 a.m.
- The car arrives at the address you gavePickups start at houses across the city, the downtown hotels, the Capitol complex and the Stratton Building in session weeks, the Bank of Springfield Center, and the HSHS, Memorial Health, UIS and SIU School of Medicine campuses.
- Cases in before you lock the doorLuggage goes aboard while you are still checking the porch light, and after that the morning asks nothing else of you.
- Departures level, or the Ticketing HallSet down at the departures level door, or walked in as far as the Ticketing Hall, whichever suits the bags. Everything flies from the single Weir Cook Terminal, so no terminal number to mix up.
Return
Indianapolis back to the capital
- Put the return on the same reservationIt is held against the inbound flight number and the scheduled landing you give us, so one phone call is what moves it. Dispatch is answered in the middle of the night.
- Met inside at baggage claimBaggage claim sits downstairs at the front of the building, below ticketing, and your chauffeur is waiting there with your name. The bags are ours from the carousel to the trunk.
- Walked out to the Ground Transportation CenterYour chauffeur walks you out of the terminal into the garage: the first floor holds the Ground Transportation Center, the spot the airport assigns to personal luxury limousine services, and the vehicle is there.
- West on I-74, and the hour comes backThe same 206 miles in reverse, except the clock now works for you: a 7 p.m. landing gets you home earlier than the itinerary reads.
Ways to make this trip
Springfield to Indianapolis: the car, the rails, or your own odometer
Rail is the first thing people ask about, and it is not available on this heading. Amtrak works the Chicago to St. Louis corridor through here, north and south, and nothing on that timetable turns east into Indiana. So the choice is being driven or driving, and a 412 mile round trip usually settles it.
Rail details come from Amtrak’s own Lincoln Service timetable, checked September 15, 2026, and the parking rates are the airport’s, checked September 17. Ours is the figure nobody publishes, because the vehicle and chauffeur are quoted by the hour, in writing.
Run a three day trip through your own odometer and the federal rate of 76 cents turns 412 return miles into $313.12. Three days of Economy Lot adds $27.00. That is $340.12, and six hours behind the wheel are still not in it. Longer reads: the Indianapolis cost and timing guide and which airport to fly out of.
The 206 miles exist either way. The only question is who spends them.
Private jets and charter
What a private jet party needs on the ground at either end
State business, corporate visits and medical travel put real general aviation traffic on this heading, and neither end of it involves an airline counter.
- 01
Stellar at Abraham Lincoln Capital
Departures on the general aviation side of the capital field never see the terminal, so the car waits at the FBO entrance and bags move at the ramp where the operator allows it.
- 02
Signature at the Indiana end
General aviation at Indianapolis works through a fixed base operator on Turner Drive, which means none of the terminal or garage-floor rules apply to a charter arrival.
- 03
The crew and the party, one reservation
A charter lands and divides: crew one way, passengers another, usually within the same half hour, on a single reservation.
- 04
A delegation fits a Sprinter
A Sprinter takes a whole cabin plus its hard cases without anybody sitting on a bag. Larger parties go to a coach instead.

- Signature Aviation6390 Turner Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana 46241Signature says the Indianapolis facility is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which is what a charter landing at 3 a.m. needs from the car as well as the ramp.
A charter booking needs the operator, the tail number and the slot, and on this heading it needs the time zone stated too. Call us the moment one of those details changes. We prefer 72 hours’ notice, but call anytime. Short-notice trips depend on availability.

Questions about this run
What riders ask before booking Springfield to Indianapolis
Every answer below leans on the figures in the table above, the airport authority’s published guidance, and the Indiana statute on time.
How long does it take to drive to the Indianapolis airport?
Executive Transportation schedules this run at 206 miles and about 3 hr 10 min on clear roads, east along Interstate 72 and then Interstate 74. There is no metro approach in the middle of it, so weather and construction are the only two reasons the figure moves.
Call (217) 523-5466 or request a quote.
Is the Indianapolis airport an hour ahead of Illinois?
Yes, and every booking on this run starts with that fact. The airport sits in the Eastern zone, Indiana keeps daylight saving, and the hour therefore never closes. A 9 a.m. Indianapolis departure is an 8 a.m. event at home, with three hours of road still to fit beneath it.
See the Indianapolis car service page.
How early is the pickup for a 9 a.m. Indianapolis departure?
Executive Transportation works the schedule in reverse. A carrier that wants passengers at the terminal two hours ahead, with checked bags closing 45 minutes out, turns a 9 a.m. Eastern flight into a 6 a.m. terminal door on your clock. The car therefore arrives near 2:20 a.m.
How is a car service to Indianapolis priced?
Executive Transportation quotes the vehicle and chauffeur by the hour, with the minimum number of hours stated up front in the written quote. The hours the run takes, the vehicle and whether the return travels on the same booking set the figure, which covers everyone aboard, so six ride on one figure.
Request a Quote with your dates.
Which doors does the chauffeur use at Indianapolis International?
Two of them. Going out, the airport allows a drop at the departures level door or an escort inside at the Ticketing Hall. Coming home, you are met at baggage claim and walked to the Ground Transportation Center, which sits on the garage first floor as you leave the building.
See how airport transportation works.
Can I reach the Indianapolis airport by train instead?
Not on this heading, and we would rather be straight about it. Amtrak works the Chicago to St. Louis corridor that runs through the capital, which is a north and south line. No scheduled service on it turns east toward Indianapolis, so the trip is a road trip either way.
Call (217) 523-5466 to price the road version.
Can a private jet or charter party be met at both ends of this run?
Yes. The capital field puts general aviation with Stellar Aviation on Capital Airport Drive, and the Indiana end works out of Signature Aviation on Turner Drive, well away from the airline building. Your chauffeur is at that FBO entrance, carrying crew and passengers alike.
Send the tail number when you book the chauffeur.

Three things eastbound riders mention.
Quoted by the hour, in writing
The vehicle and chauffeur are quoted by the hour with the minimum stated up front, so a slow hour on I-74 is planned into the figure before you ride, never discovered in the car.
The time zone is handled on the booking
The conversion is done once, by a coordinator, and written on the confirmation. That is the error this run punishes hardest.
