Midway parking cost begins at $15.00 a day in the economy lot and tops out at $43.00 a day in the garage beside the terminal, and for a downstate traveler that is only half of what matters. The other half is how quickly Chicago’s smaller airport moves you from the door to your seat.

The short version

Midway in four lines

One building
A single terminal with three concourses, A, B and C. Domestic arrivals reach all of them without clearing security a second time.
Parking
$15.00 for 1 to 24 hours in the economy garage and lot. Up to $43.00 for 8 to 24 hours on the terminal garage daily levels. Checked September 15, 2026.
Doors
Departures use the upper level. Arrivals come out on the lower level, where pre-arranged cars pull into the center lane at Doors 1 and 2.
The drive
About 189 miles and 3 hours 10 minutes from Springfield, which is shorter than the run to O’Hare.

What follows is the airport in the order you meet it: the approach from downstate, the doors, the concourses, the checkpoint, and the parking bill if you leave a car behind. Every rate and every layout detail comes from the Chicago Department of Aviation’s own Midway pages, read on September 15, 2026. Airport rates and lot status change, so check them again close to your travel date.

Why downstate flyers land on Midway

Midway sits on Chicago’s southwest side at 5700 South Cicero Avenue, which is the side you arrive from. I-55 carries you almost to the door, so you exit before the deepest part of the metro rather than crossing it. Against O’Hare, that is fewer miles and fewer minutes from every city we serve.

Peoria163 mi, about 2 hr 35 min172 mi, about 2 hr 50 minTimes assume normal conditions and no peak backup.

The second reason is scale. Midway is one terminal you can cross on foot. If you already fly Southwest, the decision is usually made for you, since that carrier built its Chicago operation here.

How the single terminal is arranged

Midway keeps the shape travelers liked before airports grew wings. Ticketing and airline counters sit on the upper level. Baggage claim sits below them. Past the security area, three concourses branch off one central space: Concourse A, Concourse B and Concourse C. The Chicago Department of Aviation’s connecting traveler page states plainly that a domestic arrival can reach all three without clearing the checkpoint again, which is why a tight connection here is less frightening than it sounds.

That layout is the real argument for Midway. You are not riding a train between terminals, and the overhead signs sort you in one glance: Concourse A one way, Concourses B and C the other, baggage claim and the garage below. If you want a Midway airport terminal map before you go, the airport posts printable versions on its site, including a separate map of the Central Market shops and restaurants past the checkpoint.

Where to be dropped off and picked up

Getting the door right saves more minutes than any other decision at this airport.

  • Departing. Vehicles drop passengers at the upper level doors, and you can be left in front of any concourse. Follow the Departures signs and use the door closest to your airline.
  • Arriving. Your chauffeur meets you at baggage claim on the lower level, and pre-arranged vehicles load from the center lane at Doors 1 and 2.
  • A pre-arranged car. The airport routes limousines and livery vehicles to the lower level center lane at Doors 1 and 2. Taxis take the inner lane at Door 2. Rideshare pickups happen outside baggage claim between Doors 2 and 4.
  • Nobody waits outside. The airport does not let vehicles stand unattended, which is why your chauffeur is inside at baggage claim rather than parked by the door.
  • The cell phone lot. Free short-term spaces sit at 61st Street and Cicero Avenue, about four minutes out, with 90 spaces. Drivers have to stay with the vehicle.

When Executive Transportation picks you up, call your chauffeur once your bags are off the belt. You get a door number and a plate to look for, and the vehicle comes to you instead of circling.

Midway parking cost if you drive yourself up

Midway charges by the actual time your car sits in the facility, and the posted rates include taxes. Here is what each option charged on September 15, 2026.

Posted Midway parking rates, checked September 15, 2026
FacilityWhere it is8 to 24 hours
Economy Garage and Lot5050 W. 55th St., a quarter mile west of Cicero. Free shuttle every 10 to 15 minutes.$15.00
Terminal Garage, dailyLevels 2 to 6 at 5701 S. Cicero Ave., adjacent to the terminal.$43.00
Terminal Garage, hourlyLevel 1, meant for short stops.$4.00 the first hour, $32.00 from 4 to 8 hours.$67.00
Reserved parkingLevel 2 of the terminal garage, covered, booked ahead.Adds $10 per space, per day.$43.00 plus fee

Stack those daily figures against a trip of any length and the gap widens fast. Four days in the economy garage runs $60.00. Four days on the garage daily levels runs $172.00. A week is $105.00 against $301.00, before a single mile of the drive is counted.

Check lot status first. Midway’s Daily Lot was listed as temporarily closed when we read the parking pages on September 15, 2026. The airport shows live status for each facility on its parking page, and the economy garage has an 8 foot 2-inch clearance, which rules out some trucks and roof boxes.

Thinking about the checkpoint, not counting minutes

Nobody can promise you a number at security, and anyone who does is guessing. What you can do is understand the shape of the day. Midway runs in banks, and the heaviest pushes cluster around early weekday mornings, Sunday afternoons and the front and back ends of holidays. When one of those banks is loading, the line grows quickly because it is one airport’s worth of passengers funneling through one area.

Two things work in your favor once you are through. The walk to any gate is short, and if your gate changes across concourses you do not have to leave the secure side. So build your buffer the way you would for O’Hare, then decide how much of it you are willing to trade, and remember that the one variable you fully control is what time you leave home.

You cannot control the line at the checkpoint. You can control whether you arrive rested, on schedule, and without a parking receipt.

Midway or O’Hare: picking between them

Midway works when

  • Your flight is domestic and the schedule fits.
  • You want less airport to cross on both ends.
  • You are coming up I-55 from Springfield, Bloomington or Champaign.
  • Someone is dropping you at the door and leaving.

O’Hare works when

  • You need an international flight or a specific alliance.
  • Only O’Hare has the nonstop you want.
  • Your company books a carrier that does not serve Midway.
  • You are connecting between the two on the same itinerary.

On price, the two airports are not far apart at the top of the range: Midway’s garage daily levels and O’Hare’s main garage both reach $43.00 a day. The terminals, the pickup doors and the vehicles for the northern field are set out on our O’Hare car service page. Our post on O’Hare parking versus a car service works that comparison out in full, including mileage. If a schedule change strands you at the wrong field, the O’Hare to Midway transfer is about 25 miles and roughly 45 minutes by road, and the airport’s own transit suggestion asks you to allow up to two hours.

The drive up, and where it actually slows

Most of the trip from Central Illinois is the easy kind of driving. I-55 runs open through farmland for well over a hundred miles, and the clock behaves. The variable sits in the last stretch, where the interstate becomes an urban expressway and the suburbs start feeding it. Weekday peaks are when that bites, and a wet Friday afternoon bites harder. Winter adds its own margin.

That is the part a chauffeur absorbs. Here is how a ride is set up.

  1. Send us the flight. Call (217) 523-5466 or request a quote with your pickup address, flight time and passenger count.
  2. Choose the vehicle. An executive sedan seats two to three, a luxury SUV five to six, and a Sprinter van up to 14 with the bags to match.
  3. Ride to the upper level. Your chauffeur leaves from your home, office or hotel and stops at the departures door nearest your concourse.
  4. Set the return before you go. Give us the flight number and the scheduled arrival, and the pickup is arranged for the lower level center lane.

Three days’ notice is the comfortable window, and a week helps when a group is riding. Later requests come down to what is available. Our airport transportation page covers every field we serve, and the Midway car service page and the Springfield to Midway route cover this one.

Midway terminal and parking questions

How much does it cost to park at Midway Airport?

Executive Transportation checked the Chicago Department of Aviation’s posted Midway rates on September 15, 2026. The economy garage and lot charge $15.00 for 1 to 24 hours. The terminal garage next to the building charges $43.00 for the same stretch on its daily levels. Reserved spaces add a $10 per space, per day booking fee on top of the parking itself. Rates move, so confirm them on the airport site before you travel. Or skip the lot: see our Midway car service page.

Is Midway quicker to get through than O’Hare?

Executive Transportation drives Central Illinois travelers to both airports. Midway is one terminal building with three concourses, so the walk from the door to the gate is short and no train ride sits between you and your flight. The airport also says domestic arrivals reach every concourse without clearing security again. O’Hare spreads across multiple terminals connected by a transit train, which adds steps at both ends of the trip. See airport transportation for either one.

Where do car services pick up at Midway Airport?

Executive Transportation meets arriving passengers inside at baggage claim on Midway’s lower level. Your chauffeur is waiting with your name, takes the bags, and walks you out to the vehicle, which the airport sends to the center lane at Doors 1 and 2 for limousines and pre-arranged cars. You do not wait outside for anything. Call (217) 523-5466 when you land.

How long does it take to drive from Springfield, Illinois, to Midway Airport?

Executive Transportation runs Springfield to Midway in about 3 hours 10 minutes, roughly 189 miles, nearly all of it on I-55. Weekday peak periods on the Chicago end stretch that, so early flights get an earlier pickup. The same trip to O’Hare is about 201 miles and about 3 hours 27 minutes. We pick up at homes, offices and hotels across Central Illinois. See the Springfield to Midway route.

What does a chauffeured ride to Midway from Central Illinois cost?

Executive Transportation quotes each Midway trip instead of posting one rate, because the figure moves with your pickup city, the vehicle you choose, how many people ride, the hour of the day, and whether you want the return leg booked at the same time. One quote covers everyone in the vehicle, so a family or a project team splits a single fare rather than paying for several cars and several days of parking. Request a Quote with your flight details.

Should I fly out of Midway or O’Hare if I live in Central Illinois?

Executive Transportation serves both, and the flight usually decides it. Midway is closer to most of Central Illinois, about 189 miles from Springfield against 201 to O’Hare, and it is one building to walk. O’Hare carries more airlines, more nonstops and the international schedule. Choose the flight that fits your day, then hand off the road part. Call (217) 523-5466 or book online.
