Springfield to Midway Car Service
The shorter road to Chicago, and the smaller airport at the end of it.
Midway sits on the southwest side, which puts it nearer than the other Chicago field and drops the run onto one interstate. A chauffeur is at your address at the hour your flight dictates, and the cases come out at the concourse your boarding pass names.

The run at a glance
Springfield to Midway, end to end
Springfield to Chicago Midway is 189 mi and about 3 hr 10 min with the road behaving, and Interstate 55 owns nearly every mile of it. That figure is a floor. What moves it is the stretch after the interstate reaches the city.
- The run189 miSpringfield to the Midway concourse roadway
- Clear roads3 hr 10 minThe calibrated drive, before the weekday peaks
- A 6:50 a.m. flight1:10 a.m.Where the pickup lands once the airline blocks come off
One interstate, then the southwest side
I-55 runs the length of this trip and only gives up near the end, where the city takes over and the peaks decide the last half hour. Midway is the compensation: a single terminal with concourses A, B and C, so the walk from the door to the gate is short and the same every time.
Turning a 6:50 a.m. departure into a pickup time
The airline sets the deadlines. One carrier asks domestic passengers to be at the terminal two hours ahead, shuts checked bags 45 minutes out and wants people at the gate a quarter of an hour before pushback. That makes 4:50 a.m. at the concourse door, and taking off the drive and a 30-minute cushion leaves a pickup near 1:10 a.m.
What the figure buys
The vehicle and chauffeur are quoted by the hour, with the minimum number of hours stated up front, and one figure covers the whole vehicle. A coordinator builds the hours from the flight and the approach this run is known for, and a group of six pays what one traveler would.
The drive figure is the calibrated Central Illinois table this site publishes everywhere. Door, lane and parking details are the Chicago Department of Aviation’s own, from flychicago.com, checked September 17, 2026, with the rates and the concourse layout read on September 15, 2026. The carrier deadlines belong to one airline and were checked the same day. Confirm anything time sensitive before you fly.

Outbound
Springfield to the Midway concourse door
- Start with the flight and the concourse letterFour lines do it: airline, flight number, departure time, and the concourse letter on the boarding pass. The vehicle is held on those.
- Pickup anywhere in the cityHouses across Springfield, hotel lobbies downtown, the Capitol complex during session, the Bank of Springfield Center, HSHS St. John’s, Memorial Health, UIS and SIU Medicine all send this run out.
- The luggage stops being yoursThe chauffeur is out of the car first and the cases are loaded before you have the door shut behind you.
- Upper level, at your concourseMidway takes departing passengers at the door of any concourse on the upper level roadway, so naming the letter saves you the length of the building.
Return
Midway back to your Springfield door
- Give us the inbound flight when you bookThe inbound number and its scheduled arrival are what the car is held against, so a phone call is what moves it when the schedule slips.
- Met inside at baggage claimBaggage claim is below the concourses, and your chauffeur is waiting there with your name. The bags are ours from the carousel to the trunk.
- Out at Door 1 or Door 2, lower levelMidway routes liveries and pre-arranged cars to the lower level center lane at Doors 1 and 2, with livery parking it calls typically a five to seven minute walk, so your chauffeur walks you out to the vehicle there.
- You never wait outsideYour chauffeur parks in the livery lot across from the terminal and is inside at baggage claim before the carousel starts, so you are never outside looking for a car.
Ways to make this trip
Springfield to Chicago: driven, self-driven, or flown
How long you are away and how many are going decide this. Your own car makes sense on a quick trip where the lot bill stays small, and Springfield’s own field wins when the fare and the connection work. A chauffeured car takes the pre-dawn departures, the groups, and the weeks a garage would be billing throughout.
Rail comes up next. Amtrak revises its timetables by the season, so none is quoted here, and its Chicago end is Union Station in the Loop rather than an airport. The parking figures below are Midway’s own.
Leaving your own car at Midway four days lands near $347: 378 round trip miles at the IRS business rate of 76 cents is $287.28, and the economy garage adds $60.00. Full rates in the Midway guide, and the departure arithmetic in when to leave.
The 189 miles happen whichever way you choose. One version lets you sleep through them.
Private jets and charter
Private jet arrivals and departures on this run
General aviation runs at both ends of this trip, and none of it touches a concourse or a ticketing hall.
- 01
Stellar at the Springfield end
Charter passengers leave through the operator on Capital Airport Drive, so the vehicle stands at that lobby door and the bags go to the aircraft wherever the ramp permits it.

Midway lists two general aviation addresses
One sits on Laramie Avenue and one on Central Avenue. Say which the flight is filed to and the car is waiting there.
- 03
Crew and passengers together
A flight crew heading for a hotel and passengers heading downtown are one job, carried on one reservation instead of a car doubling back for the second half.

State delegations and corporate cabins fit one Sprinter van with the hard cases aboard. Anything larger moves to a coach, still on one figure.

Other runs
Other runs out of Springfield, and into Midway
Midway is one of four fields a Springfield itinerary regularly uses, and it takes traffic from the rest of the region as well.
The booking works the same in either direction: one vehicle, one figure, the flight number on the reservation.
Each of these is a clear-road figure out of the same calibrated table, and none of them carries a weekday Chicago approach. The airports page has the rest of the fields.
The outbound and the return sit on one booking, whichever ends they use.

Questions about this run
What riders ask before booking Springfield to Midway
The answers use the calibrated figures above and Midway’s own published lane rules and parking rates.
How long is the Springfield to Midway drive?
Executive Transportation schedules Springfield to Chicago Midway at 189 mi and about 3 hr 10 min with the road clear, and Interstate 55 carries nearly all of it. The last stretch into the southwest side is the part that lengthens during a weekday peak.
Call (217) 523-5466 or request a quote.
What time is the pickup for an early Midway departure?
Executive Transportation counts back from the flight itself. A domestic passenger is asked for the terminal two hours ahead by one published carrier policy, with checked bags shut 45 minutes out, so a 6:50 a.m. departure needs you at the concourse door at 4:50 a.m. and a car outside near 1:10 a.m.
How is the price set on a Springfield to Midway car service?
Executive Transportation quotes the vehicle and chauffeur by the hour, with the minimum number of hours stated up front in the written quote. The hours the run takes, the vehicle and whether you want the return held at the same time move the figure. Everybody in the car travels on that one number.
Request a Quote with your dates.
Which door does the car use at Midway?
Executive Transportation drops departing passengers on the upper level roadway, at the door of whichever concourse you are flying from. Arrivals are met inside at baggage claim and walked out to the lower level center lane at Doors 1 and 2, the one place Midway allows a livery to load.
See the Midway car service page.
Is it cheaper to drive myself to Midway and park?
On a short solo trip it often is, and we say so. Midway charges $15 for 1 to 24 hours in the economy garage and $43 on the terminal garage daily levels, and the 378 mile round trip runs $287.28 at the IRS rate. Four days lands near $347.
Compare it in the Midway guide.
What size vehicle does a group of ten need?
Executive Transportation puts two or three travelers in a sedan and five or six in a luxury SUV, so a party of ten rides in a Sprinter van, which seats fourteen. Larger groups take a coach for up to thirty-five. Count the checked bags first.
Compare the full fleet.
Do you collect private jet passengers at each end?
Yes, at both ends of this corridor. The Springfield field runs its general aviation through Stellar Aviation, and Midway publishes two operators, Atlantic Aviation and Signature Flight Support. Your chauffeur waits at whichever lobby the flight uses, crew and passengers together.
Send the tail number when you book the chauffeur.
