Almost everybody flies this pair, and they should. The chauffeured version is for the mornings that do not work: a party too large to rebook, cases nobody wants checked, a weather day, or a connection already gone.

The run at a glance

Lambert to O’Hare, end to end

The two fields sit 306 miles apart and about 4 hr 45 min of clear road, effectively all of it Interstate 55. That figure is why this page puts flying first: four and three quarter hours is a long time to buy, and worth buying only for particular reasons.

When the drive is the right call

Four situations, and they are specific. A group of nine with one seat available to rebook. Trade show crates and instrument cases that should not meet a belt. Weather sitting over one field but not the road. And the evening a connection dies and the next seat is tomorrow, which is when this run is booked most.

I-55 north, then the Chicago approach

The open miles hold an average for hours, which is what makes a long transfer plannable at all. The last stretch does not. A chauffeur takes the Tri-State or the Kennedy, and the interchanges and the departures ramp are where a trip gains twenty minutes or loses an hour.

What the quote covers

The vehicle and chauffeur are quoted by the hour, with the minimum number of hours stated up front, and one figure covers the vehicle and everything in it. A coordinator builds the hours from both flights and the approach, and nine passengers and their cases ride on one reservation.

Drive figures are the calibrated table this site publishes everywhere, pinned identically on both airport pages. Terminal and roadway rules come from each airport’s own site, flystl.com and flychicago.com, both checked September 17, 2026, with parking rates checked September 15, 2026. Carrier deadlines were checked September 15, 2026. Confirm anything time sensitive before you travel.

How the run goes

Northbound, and the run back south

Two airports with two different sets of rules about where a car may stop.

Northbound

Lambert to the O’Hare terminal door

  1. Say which Lambert building you are inTerminal 1 and Terminal 2 are separate buildings on separate roadways, with the airlines split between them. That one word places the vehicle.
  2. Met inside at baggage claimYour chauffeur meets you inside at baggage claim with your name, takes the luggage and walks you out to the vehicle in the designated commercial vehicle area for your terminal. Lambert posts zones for taxis and ride apps but none for a pre-arranged car, so no door is invented here.
  3. Cases in once, and only onceIt goes in the back at Lambert and comes out at O’Hare. Nothing is weighed, tagged, belted or claimed between the two, which is most of the argument for this run.
  4. Upper level, at the terminal on your passA departure at O’Hare means the upper level roadway. Terminal 5 is the international building, so name yours when you book.

Southbound

O’Hare back down to Lambert

  1. Give us the inbound flight and the terminalThe southbound leg hangs on the flight number and scheduled arrival on the booking, so a phone call is what moves it.
  2. Met at baggage claim, Customs in Terminal 5Baggage claim sits on the lower level, and your chauffeur is waiting there with your name. An international arrival clears Customs and Border Protection in Terminal 5 first.
  3. Walked out to lane 2 on the lower levelYour chauffeur takes the luggage and walks you out to the vehicle. O’Hare lets liveries load only at designated areas on the lower level center lane, lane 2, with livery parking across from each terminal, so you never stand outside waiting.
  4. South on I-55 to your Lambert terminalThe same 306 miles in reverse, ending at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 by airline. Most southbound legs run in the evening, the easiest traffic of the day.

A moved flight at either end needs a phone call. Two airports means two schedules, both written on the reservation exactly as you gave them. Only a phone call moves either, and (217) 523-5466 is answered day or night.

Ways to make this trip

Lambert to O’Hare: fly it, drive it, or be driven

Take the flight. On an ordinary day the scheduled nonstop beats 306 miles of interstate, and it is not close even after check-in, screening and claim at both ends. The car earns its place on the other kind of day: a party that cannot be rebooked together, freight-shaped luggage, weather over the field but not the road, or a connection already gone.

Amtrak works this corridor too, finishing inside Union Station in the Loop, 17 miles from an O’Hare concourse and no use when the point is a connection. Parking rates below are the airport’s own, taxes included.

Fly it when you can. Book the car for the day that stops working.

Private jets and charter

Private jet and charter between these two fields

Both fields carry heavy general aviation traffic, and a repositioning trip between them is often half charter and half road. One operator holds the FBO at each end.

  • 01

    Ramp side at Lambert

Ramp side vehicle access is among the ground services listed at St. Louis, so where the operator allows it the cases move aircraft to trunk with nobody carrying anything.

  • 02

    The single operator at O’Hare

O’Hare names one fixed base operator on its own page, and none of the lower level lane rules apply there. The vehicle is at that entrance when the aircraft is.

  • 03

Aircraft at one end, airline at the other

Many of these trips are mixed: a charter lands at one field and the onward seat leaves the other. One reservation covers both ends.

  • 04

    Crew repositioning

Moving a flight crew between the two fields is ordinary work, and it books exactly like a passenger leg.

  • Signature Flight Support, O’HarePatton Drive, Bldg. 825, Chicago, Illinois 60666The only fixed base operator O’Hare lists on its own FBO page. Signature says the facility is staffed around the clock, which is what a charter arriving at 2 a.m. needs.

Send the tail number and the slot at whichever end is the aircraft, plus the airline flight at the other. Call dispatch if either moves. We prefer 72 hours’ notice, but call anytime. Short-notice trips depend on availability.

We handle the ground between the two ramps. Chartering the aircraft is somebody else’s trade.

The fleet

Fleet for the O’Hare run

Nearly five hours each way makes the vehicle the whole experience, and luggage volume decides it as often as headcount.

Every one of them travels with a uniformed chauffeur. The stretch limousine covers eight to ten.

Other runs

Other runs into these two airports

Most O’Hare work starts at a city rather than another airport, and the short hop across Chicago has a page of its own.

All of them book the same way, and all of them carry one figure for the vehicle rather than a fare per rider.

Whichever two ends a trip has, they go on one reservation.

Questions about this run

What people ask before booking Lambert to O’Hare

The answers below use the calibrated figures above and the two airports’ own published rules about where a car is allowed to stop.

How long does it take to drive from St. Louis Lambert to O’Hare?

Executive Transportation schedules Lambert to Chicago O’Hare at 306 miles and about 4 hr 45 min on clear roads, almost all of it Interstate 55. That is a floor, not a ceiling. The final stretch into the metro is where a weekday peak adds time.

Call (217) 523-5466 or request a quote.

Is it cheaper to fly between St. Louis and Chicago?

For one traveler on a normal day, almost certainly, and we would rather say so than sell five hours. The car earns its place when a group cannot be rebooked together, when luggage is closer to freight, when weather closes a field, or when the connection is gone.

Call (217) 523-5466 and describe the situation.

When would I be picked up at Lambert for an evening flight out of O’Hare?

Executive Transportation plans this one from the far end backwards. A carrier wanting passengers at the terminal two hours ahead, and checked bags closed 45 minutes before departure, makes a 7 p.m. departure a 5 p.m. terminal door. Add the drive and a cushion: the Lambert pickup lands near 11:45 a.m.

See how the pickup hour is built.

How is an airport-to-airport transfer priced?

Executive Transportation quotes the vehicle and chauffeur by the hour, with the minimum number of hours stated up front in the written quote. The hours the run takes, the vehicle and whether the southbound leg rides the same booking set the figure. It covers everybody and everything aboard, not a seat.

Request a Quote with both flights.

Where exactly does the chauffeur meet me at each airport?

Inside at baggage claim, at both ends, and the bags are ours from the carousel to the trunk. At Lambert the walk ends in the designated commercial vehicle area for your terminal. At O’Hare, liveries may only load in the lower level center lane, lane 2.

See the O’Hare car service page.

Which vehicle suits a stranded group and its luggage?

Sedans carry two or three, luxury SUVs five or six, Sprinter vans fourteen, and coaches up to thirty-five. On a run like this one the cases decide before the headcount does, so count the bags out loud when you call a coordinator.

Compare the full fleet.

If the trip starts on a private jet, can the car meet it at both airports?

Yes. Signature Flight Support holds the fixed base operator at both fields, on James S. McDonnell Boulevard and on Patton Drive, each staffed around the clock. Mixed trips work too: an aircraft at one end, an airline seat at the other.

Send the tail number when you book the chauffeur.

Three things that matter on a transfer this long.

  • The luggage is handled once

Loaded at one airport and unloaded at the other, with no belt, no tag and no claim hall between.

  • A group travels as a group

One vehicle holds the whole party, which is the thing a rebooking line usually cannot offer at short notice.

  • Somebody answers immediately

This run is usually booked in the hour after something went wrong, and dispatch is staffed for it.
