The run at a glance
Springfield to St. Louis Lambert, end to end
Springfield to St. Louis Lambert is 107 miles and about 1 hr 40 min on clear roads, the shortest trip to a full-size hub anyone in Central Illinois makes. Lambert sits in north St. Louis County, so the airport turns up before the city does.

- Clear roads1 hr 40 minThe calibrated drive, before any weekday build

I-55 south, then west on I-270
The line runs south past Litchfield and turns west on I-270 to cross the Mississippi north of the city, at the Chain of Rocks. Four lanes the whole way, gentle grades, nothing that rewards local knowledge until the closing miles. Those share pavement with ordinary north county commuters, and they fill inbound through the morning and outbound late in the afternoon.
Working an 8 a.m. departure back to a pickup hour
Lambert points travelers to two hours before a domestic flight and three before an international one. Against an 8 a.m. departure that is 6 a.m. at the terminal door, and taking the 1 hr 40 min drive off it puts the pickup near 4:20 a.m. An early start rather than a night given up, which is the argument for pointing a Central Illinois trip south.
What the quote covers
The vehicle and chauffeur are quoted by the hour, with the minimum number of hours stated up front, and one figure covers the whole vehicle. A coordinator builds the hours from the flight and the crawl north county is known for, and five colleagues on one departure share that one figure.
Drive figures are the calibrated Central Illinois table this site publishes everywhere. Terminal, airline, ground transportation and parking details are the airport’s own, from flystl.com, checked September 17, 2026, on the rate schedule Lambert marks effective July 1, 2026. Arrival guidance was checked September 15, 2026. Airports revise these pages, so confirm anything time sensitive before you travel.
How the run goes
Down to the terminal, then back again
Two terminals, no walking route between them, and a chauffeur who reads the pass first.
Outbound
Springfield to the Lambert terminal door
- Name the airline and the flightAirline, flight number, scheduled departure. At Lambert the airline matters most, because it decides which of the two buildings you need.
- Outside the door you namedDriveways, offices, downtown hotels and the medical campuses all work alike: the vehicle is outside before the hour on the reservation.
- Bags in at the door, then I-55The trunk is open and loaded while you are still locking up, and the next ninety minutes are not yours.
- Down at whichever terminal is yoursAmerican, Delta, United, Alaska, Air Canada and Southern Airways Express all sit in Terminal 1. Southwest, Frontier, British Airways and Lufthansa sit in Terminal 2, and the airport says no walking route joins them.
Return
Lambert back to your door
- Give the inbound flight when you reserveThe inbound flight number and its scheduled landing time set the vehicle, so call dispatch the moment either one moves.
- Met at baggage claim in that same terminalThe two terminals have separate claim halls, and your chauffeur is inside yours with your name. A free shuttle runs around the clock between Exit 12 at Terminal 1 and Door 10 at Terminal 2, every 8 to 15 minutes.
- The bags are ours from the carousel to the trunkThe airport zones its roadway for taxis and ride apps and prints nothing for a pre-arranged car, so no sign is needed: your chauffeur takes the luggage and walks you out to the vehicle in the commercial vehicle area for your terminal.
- Back up I-55 to the address you gaveThe same 107 miles in reverse. The last banks into Lambert land late, and that leg is booked with the ride out rather than negotiated at midnight.
Ways to make this trip
Springfield to the St. Louis airport: the car, the lot, or the local field
Three honest answers sit behind this trip. One traveler away for two nights can often drive down and park for less than a chauffeured car costs. A pre-dawn departure, a party of five or a week away tilts the other way, and for a few destinations the local field wins outright.
Parking rates are the airport’s own, tax included, on the schedule it marks effective July 1, 2026. Amtrak is not in this comparison: we publish a rail option only where we have read the timetable, and none of ours covers a train into the Lambert terminals. Our own figure is missing too, because the vehicle and chauffeur are quoted by the hour, in writing.
Four days of driving yourself is $162.64 of mileage, about 214 round trip miles at the IRS business rate of 76 cents, plus $44.00 in Lot D: $206.64. Longer versions: Lambert parking against a car service and the drive down.
The 107 miles are the same either way. One option hands them over.
Private jets and charter
Private jet and charter, ramp to door
Both ends of this run have a general aviation side, and a fair share of that flying skips the airline counters entirely.
- 01
Stellar at Abraham Lincoln Capital
A charter out of Springfield boards through the FBO lobby on Capital Airport Drive, so the chauffeur waits at the FBO door rather than the airline terminal.
- 02
Signature at the St. Louis end
General aviation traffic at Lambert works through one fixed base operator, staffed around the clock, and none of the terminal zone rules reach it.
- 03
Cases loaded planeside when the ramp clears it
Signature lists ramp side vehicle access among its ground services, so where the operator clears it the cases go from the hold to the trunk. Where it does not, the handover is at the FBO door.

What riders say
Riders on the southbound run
Executive Transportation saved the day after another bus company fell through last minute.
The scheduling process was seamless, and the timely pickup from Bloomington airport made my journey stress-free.
Our group of 7 needed a ride from Chicago O’Hare to Springfield. The vehicle was clean and comfortable.
Lambert is the hub most Central Illinois companies fly their people out of, and corporate airport transfers put a team in one vehicle instead of three cars in three lots.
State agencies, associations and visiting delegations book the southbound run through our government travel service.
Questions about this run
What riders ask before booking Springfield to Lambert
These answers use the figures on this page and Lambert’s published guidance, checked September 2026.
How long is the Springfield to St. Louis airport drive?
Executive Transportation schedules this run at 107 miles and about 1 hr 40 min on clear roads, south on I-55 past Litchfield and west on I-270 across the river. That is a floor, not a promise: weekday peaks thicken the last stretch through north St. Louis County.
Call (217) 523-5466 or request a quote.
What pickup time works for an 8 a.m. Lambert departure?
Executive Transportation fixes the hour by working in reverse. Lambert points travelers to two hours before a domestic flight, so an 8 a.m. departure means 6 a.m. at the terminal door. Subtract the 1 hr 40 min drive and the pickup lands near 4:20 a.m.
How is the price set on a Springfield to St. Louis airport car service?
Executive Transportation quotes the vehicle and chauffeur by the hour, with the minimum number of hours stated up front in the written quote. The hours the run takes, the vehicle and whether the return rides on the same booking move it, and the figure buys the whole vehicle rather than a seat, so five split it.
Request a Quote with your dates.
Does the chauffeur know which Lambert terminal I need?
Executive Transportation pulls up wherever your airline checks in. Lambert lists American, Delta, United, Alaska, Air Canada and Southern Airways Express at Terminal 1, and Southwest, Frontier, British Airways and Lufthansa at Terminal 2. No walking route joins them, so name the airline.
See the Lambert car service page.
Does parking at Lambert cost less than booking a car?
For one traveler away two nights, often yes, and we say so. Lambert charges $11 for 24 hours in Lot D. The forgotten line is the car: about 214 round trip miles at the IRS rate of 76 cents is $162.64 before any parking.
Compare them in Lambert parking versus a car service.
What size vehicle fits a group heading to Lambert?
Executive Transportation runs executive sedans for two or three passengers, luxury SUVs for five or six, Sprinter vans for fourteen and coaches up to thirty-five. Checked bags decide it more often than headcount does, so count the cases first.
Compare the full fleet.
Will a chauffeur meet a private jet or charter flight?
Yes, at both ends. Charter passengers leaving Abraham Lincoln Capital board through Stellar Aviation on Capital Airport Drive, and Lambert’s general aviation side runs through Signature Flight Support. The chauffeur waits at the FBO entrance, with crew and passengers carried on one reservation.
Send the tail number when you book the chauffeur.

Riders keep naming the same three reasons this run works.
Quoted by the hour, in writing
The vehicle and chauffeur are quoted by the hour with the minimum stated up front, so the crawl through north county is planned into the hours before you ride, not settled in the car.
Your departure sets the pickup hour
A coordinator works backward from the departure through the airport guidance and the drive, then fixes the hour.
The late landing is booked with the early start
The last banks into Lambert arrive long after most offices close, and that leg goes on the same reservation.
